Progg is alive! ( Progg is short for progressive music)

When we were young it was politics that mattered.

We put many of the people in charge against the wall.

It was many placards and a lot of protests,

but also a lot of wine and wild parties.

We were trying to get us a decent life,

some lived at home and some were in collective housing.

But we never had any doubts and we never let down on our ideals!

The guys played guitar with some effort,
girls burned their bras and carried socks that were red.

Chairman Mao was quoted quite often
and some went around in home-made cardigans.

Some lived in the countryside with sheep and outdoor loo

Then there was disco, DJ and dance.
Without permed hair, you didn´t stand a chance.

Many clubs offered Ecstasy in the form of pills.
Michael Jackson grabbed his groin and danced in Thriller.

Pop songs were made with synthesizer and electronic,
Bill Gates created Windows and became filthy rich.

On TV you see an angry carpenter and one who is kind.
Half-naked youngsters are at Paradise Hotel.

In the melody festival they play a version of music.
No matter how it sounds, it always has its audience.

Politicians promise jobs and freedom for everyone.
In the US, all stock exchanges begin to fall.

But we never had any doubts and we never let down on our ideals!

Sometimes you can feel like a bad person,
if you do not put money in a beggar's jar.

SD (Swedish right-wing party) believe that an immigrant is lazy, 
beneath the surface there is chills of xenophobia. 

In our society there are many shortcomings,
and in the shadows terrorists are lurking.
